Michael J. Langley, M.D.
With over 20 years experience in urology medicine, Dr. Langley offers a broad range of general urological services. His major clinical interest is in the management of challenging cases of prostate cancer, urinary incontinence, and kidney stone disease.
He has a large experience in the surgical and medical management of prostate enlargement and excessive night time urination (nocturia). Additionally, he manages bladder cancer and other urinary malignancies.
Dr. Langley received his undergraduate degree in Biology and English from Abilene Christian College, and graduated from Baylor College of Medicine. His training in general surgery and urology was at the University of Virginia.
He is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American College of Surgeons and:
- Holds memberships in several professional organizations.
- Was former Director of the American Cancer Society of Virginia
- Served as Chief of Staff at Montgomery Regional Hospital
- Is current Chief of Staff at Coastal Carolina Medical Center
- Served as the Medical Director of The New River Valley Surgical Center
- Was President of the Virginia Urological Society
- Served as faculty at the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine
Prior to establishing New River Urology in 2009, Dr. Langley practiced in Blacksburg, VA for 19 years. He married the love of his life, Pam, in 1987 and has two sons, John and Brian. His hobbies include golf and fishing. His practice philosophy is to care for patients as family, and to keep the patient’s regular physician fully informed.
Eric S. Gwynn, M.D.
With more than 10 years of experience in urology, Dr. Gwynn offers a range of services to address conditions such as incontinence, female pelvic floor prolapse, and erectile dysfunction. His areas of interest include male and female sexual dysfunction, laparoscopic procedures, urologic oncology (prostate, bladder, and kidney cancer), kidney stone disease, and management of enlarged prostate.
Dr. Gwynn received his undergraduate degrees in biochemistry and biology from Virginia Polytechnic and State University. He received a master’s degree in physiology and his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in urologic surgery at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Urology.

- Mid-Atlantic Section of the AUA
In addition to practicing urology, Dr. Gwynn has published numerous articles on urological conditions, given presentations at national and international meetings, and served as a faculty member at the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Prior to joining New River Urology, Dr. Gwynn was in private practice in the Blacksburg, VA area. In his spare time, he enjoys sports, boating, fishing, refinishing antique furniture, motorcycling and playing piano.
Richard R. Vanderslice, M.D.
A graduate of Boston College, Dr. Vanderslice completed medical school and conducted his residency at Georgetown University Medical School. He started The Urology Group on Hilton Head Island, SC in 1994 and came to work with New River Urology late 2016.
Dr. Vanderslice is certified by the American Board of Urology. He has served on the Board of Hilton Head Hospital and has received The Circle of Care Award by Volunteers in Medicine.
He is married to Joni BanksVanderslice and they have two young daughters: Sara and Gracie. Dr Vanderslice and family enjoy boating; swimming; fishing and most outdoor activities.
